Object relations in the form of positive affective bonds are not only an essential tool for coping with trauma, but sometimes also form an obstacle to it. This is the result of the empirical researches of the American psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Dan Schechter, who primarily refers to investigations in the follow-up of families, which were affected by the terrorist attacks on September 9, 2001 in New York City. In the attacks on the World Trade Center, about three thousand children lost a parent, and a complex dynamic developed between the surviving parent and the child, generating not only supportive but also more traumatizing aspects....
