The most anxious patients with regard to their appearance and weight were at the same time the thinnest I have ever met - during my work as a psychotherapist in a department for eating disorders. I had previously given little thought to body satisfaction and psychotherapy.
Eating disorders are terrible. They are among the deadliest mental illnesses. I do not know how many of my patients died. We only treated them in a sufficiently physically stable condition.
In my article, I want to look at the social pressure surrounding the appearance. This pressure has an effect on our children and us....
