IN CONVERSATION WITH
Author: MICHAELA HEGER / DWP
In our interview series "in conversation with“, we will briefly present the authors of the leading articles. We want to give our users the opportunity to read the leading article from a different point of view.
This week we are very glad to welcome
Michaela Heger:
Born in Vienna in 1979, completed her studies at the Sigmund Freud University Vienna, as well as in the Psychoanalytic Seminar Innsbruck. She works in private practice, at the outpatient clinic for children and adolescent psychotherapy of the Vienna Health Insurance and as an consultant psychotherapist in the orthopedic hospital in Gersthof, Vienna.
DWP: What brought you to psychoanalysis? Michaela Heger: Perhaps to finally find an answer to the burning question "Why things are the way they are?"
DWP: If you had the opportunity to talk with Sigmund Freud, what would be the topic? Are there any specific questions? Michaela Heger: I would like to discuss a case study with him and just listen to what he has to say.
DWP: Fabric or leather couch? Michaela Heger: Fabric couch, but in a bright color.
DWP: According to Bruno Bettelheim and the importance of fairy tales in childhood. Will you tell us your favorite fairy-tale? And do you see parallels to your own adult life? Michaela Heger: "The Emperor´s New Clothes" by Hans Christian Andersen. In the fairy tale the emperor is dazzled by the alleged magical robes, which only smart people can see.... It was important for me to not let me be (more) blinded by things and people, but to rely on what I myself see and feel.
DWP: I dream,…. Michaela Heger: The analysis of my dreams helps me to reflect about my personal situations and relationships.
DWP: What do you find good or particularly good in psychoanalysis and is there anything you do not like about it? Michaela Heger: What I like is that there is no foreseeable end of an analysis, it is open, the end must be found by oneself. What I don´t particularly like is the analysis of resistances, and also the confrontation with your own resistances.
DWP: What challenges did you have to face during your analytic training? Michaela Heger: In general the challenge was to embark on the process of entering unknown territory and to traverse it.
Thank you very much for this conversation, we are already looking forward to your leading article!
